DROP BAGS OFF IN THE MAIN OFFICE!
Operation Bed Roll provides mats to the 200+ homeless veterans in Columbia. These mats are made entirely of plastic grocery bags by creating "plarn" (plastic bag yarn) and crocheting it into mats. It takes about 500 bags to make one mat! The finished product will provide a lightweight, quick drying, insect free, insulated bed roll to be distributed through the local United Way of the Midlands to citizens who sleep outside on the ground. There will be a monthly contest to see which class can collect the most bags! Operation Bed Roll Founding Partners include the City of Columbia Arts Center, City of Columbia Recycling and Sustainability, Sustainable Midlands, EdVenture, United Way of the Midlands and Sonoco Recycling.
