Operation Project Bed Roll UPDATE: Keep Those Plastic Bags Coming!

Today Key Club members teamed up with the special ed department to help with operation bed roll. Students worked at different sections folding, cutting, creating plastic bag rolls and crocheting bed rolls. Mrs. Lindsay and her class are always looking for volunteers to help crochet the bags. Their goal is to create 100-bed rolls by Winter Days. If you will like to volunteer and help please contact Cindy Lindsay at clindsay@richland2.org.

Operation Bed Roll provides mats to the 200+ homeless veterans in Columbia. These mats are made entirely of plastic grocery bags by creating "plarn" (plastic bag yarn) and crocheting it into mats. It takes about 500 bags to make one mat! The finished product will provide a lightweight, quick drying, insect free, insulated bed roll to be distributed through the local United Way of the Midlands to citizens who sleep outside on the ground.
