Boys Cross Country
9/26
On Wednesday 9/26 the Vikings hosted their second home Wednesday meet of the season. The Vikings won the 6 teams meet with 15 points and Sumter was 2nd with 59 points. Leading the way for the Vikings was Murray Jones in a time of 17:40 and winning his 2nd meet of the season. Also running well was Jacob Ho (2nd, 18:02), Carlos Angles (3rd, 18:18), Mark Wild (4th, 18:20), Fernando Castro (5th, 18:24), Andrew Polson (6th (18:30), Henry Pettis (8th, 18:55), Ethan Taylor (9th, 19:11), Tyler Shuler (10th, 19:29) and Patrick Kittrell (11th, 19:39).
9/30
On Saturday the boys cross country team competed in the Low Country Invitational in Charleston. The varsity team finished 13th out of 47 teams. Murray Jones finished 10th overall in a time of 17:05. Other Viking finishers were George Wells in 37th, Jacob Ho in 86th, Carlos Angeles in 96th, and Andrew Polson in 111th. The JV team finished 4th out of 26 teams. Leading the way was Ethan Taylor in 8th place and Henry Pettis in 9th place.
Girls Cross Country
The Girls Cross Country raced region rival Sumter this past Wednesday at Sandhill Extension. The Lady Vikings rose the challenge took the dual meet win 17-41(in cross country the lowest score wins). During the meet, Ellie Pittman, Imani Wilson, Isabelle Vola, Lizzie McCallum, Esther Kim, Angel Huang, Chloe Beck, Victoria Noel, Madison McEachern, Chinira Godfrey, Brantley Aycock, Anna Todd, and Ahja Amos all set new personal bests for the season.
The girls then traveled to John's Island on Saturday to compete in a very muddy Low Country Invitational against some of the top teams in the state including top-ranked SC teams Hilton Head, Lexington, and Eastside. Again, several girls bested their previous personal records despite the poor conditions to include; Ahja Amos, Chinira Godfrey, Viki Berry, Angel Huang, Jordan Williams, Lizzie McCallum and Mariana Medellin Olvera. The varsity girls finished 17th out of 44 and JV finished in 5th. Ahja Amos put up Spring Valley's top female performance with a 21:06 5k this week. Finishing 24th in a field of more than 300 at the Low Country Invitational.

Girls Golf
9/25
On Tuesday, the Lady Vikings hosted the Sumter Gamecocks and the Cardinal Newman Cardinals in a tri-match at the Woodlands. The lady Vikings scoring a 208 team score were able to defeat region foe Sumter with a team score of 250. But the Cardinals were too much for the lady Vikings, behind the strong playing of their #1 player Lextyn Petz shooting 1 under par 35 for a team score of 176.
Low medalist for Spring Valley was Madeline Kay and other's contributing to the overall team score were: Millie Spivey, Maddie Webster, and Millie Sox.
Football

The Spring Valley JV football team defeated Irmo 14-12 Thursday night and ran their record to 4-1 on the season. The defense was led by Hy-Kein Nahn who had a big interception down near the goal line. Also having a good game on defense were Thomas Peterson, Kameron Gunn, Aaron Jones, Kameron Terrell, Blayton Miller, Akrum Halwe and Marion Washington. The defense had a late goal-line stance to preserve the win.
The Vikings were led on offense by touchdowns from Nehemiah Bell and Hy-Kein Nahn. De Quandre Smith scored the 2 point conversion. LaMarion Wilson, Ty Wise, and Braylin Ratcliff all had big receptions on the scoring drive. The offensive line also had a good game.
Led by Sean Sullivan, Kameron Gunn, and Thomas Peterson.
The Vikings will play Lugoff Elgin next Thursday.

The SV Varsity Football loses a heartbreaker to Irmo 31-28 on a last minute TD with under 30 seconds left last Friday night. The Vikings were led on offense by Adrian Ross's 17 Carries for 94 Yards and 1 Touchdown. Anthony Wilson had 6 rushes for 65 yards and 1 TD. Malik Wesley had 3 receptions for 54 yards and 1 TD. On defense, the Vikings were led by Max Shropshire who had 11 Tackles, 1 TFL, 1 Fumble recovery, and 1 Caused Fumble. Jalen Geiger had 8 tackles and 5 solos. Paul Davis had 7 tackles, 1 Tackle for loss and recovered a fumble. On special teams, Akele Pauling had 3 punt returns for 101 yards and 3 kickoff returns for 88 yards.
The Vikings travel to Lugoff-Elgin HS this Friday in a key region game at 7:30.
Volleyball

Tuesday, September 25, the Lady Vikings fell to Blythewood AWAY, 0-3; 19-25, 16-25, 16-25. Shout out to senior, Mikaila Widener and junior, Lelia Richardson for serving at 100% for the night and to senior, Aneisa Williams with 15 Digs. Junior, Lelia Richardson also led the team with 9 Kills. Lady Vikings will get a rematch at HOME for Senior Night, Thursday, October 11th! BE THERE!! Go Vikings!!
Junior Varsity also took a loss 0-2; 23-25, 19-25. Sophomore, Caitlin Aycock had 15 serves with 2 Aces and freshman, Cydney Cooper had 7 Digs for the night

Wednesday, September 26, the Lady Vikings swept Irmo at Irmo 3-0; 25-8, 25-10, 25-9. Sophomore, Elise Taylor and senior, Mia Wooden completed 100% of their serves, each with 2 Aces for the night. Sophomore, Elise Taylor and junior, Alisha Pitt finished the night each with 8 Kills. Junior, Angel White racked up 19 Assists for the KILL that evening. Junior Faith Webster led the team with 5 Digs.
Junior Varsity also won 2-0. 25-14, 25-15. Sophomore, Jessica Wigley had 16 serves with 4 Aces and junior, Zion Ratchford had 5 Digs for the night.

Thursday, September 27, the Lady Vikings beat Irmo at HOME 3-0; 25-20, 25-14, 25-11. Shout out to junior, Angel White with 6 Aces and 24 Assists! Junior, Alisha Pitt lead the team with a whopping 13 Kills and senior, Mikaila Widener led the team with 10 Digs for the night!
Junior Varsity also won 25-10, 25-14. Junior, Zion Ratchford had 22 serves, 4 Aces and 5 Digs for the night.
9/29
The Varsity girls competed in the Wildcat Tourney this past Saturday, wrapping up their final tournament scheduled for the season. The girls competed HARD and overcame obstacles as we fought without one of our players who is out with an injury. We finished the tournament 6th out of 14 teams and competed EXTREMELY well against some tough competition! We ended the tournament 2nd in the Silver division under powerhouses such as Lexington, RiverBluff, Ashley Hall, Eastside and James Island. Way to go girls!!
Cheer

Spring Valley Cheer went to Northwestern this Saturday. Hit a perfect warm up but was unable to repeat perfection. We left with a score of 179! Lots of room for improvement. Watch out for us at River Bluff this Saturday, October 6th!
