The Girls Lacrosse team traveled to Irmo yesterday for a game. The Spring Valley Vikings beat the Irmo Yellow Jackets, 16-5.

Girl's Soccer
3/12
The Varsity soccer team opened region play on the road at Irmo winning 4-0. All four of the goals were scored by different players. Karah Barry opened the scoring in the 4th minute. Bailey McManus and Maya Hamzy each netted a goal in the first half as the Vikings took a 3-0 lead into the half. The last goal came off of a Caroline Brindel corner with Karolina De La Paz closing out the scoring. Lauren Cooney and Jaden Parker combined for the shutout win in goal.

The 6-1 Girls soccer team resumes region play Thursday against Lugoff-Elgin. Students get in free with an ID before 6:15.

It was another successful night at Ben Stern Field as the Varsity girls soccer team improved to 7-1 overall and 2-0 in the region with a 9-0 win over Lugoff-Elgin. After only leading 3-0 at the half, the girls came out and pounded the goal with 6 second half goals. Scoring goals were  Maya Hamzy (2), Abby Kim (2), Karah Barry (2), Bailey McManus, Karolina De La Paz, and Sara Ormond. Lauren Cooney, Jaden Parker, and Alicia Cruz combined for the team's 6th shutout of the season. The girls will return to action Wednesday at home as they take on Dutch Fork.

The Junior Varsity girls soccer team improved their record with a fun 5-2 win over Lugoff-Elgin. The Vikings took an early lead, ending the first half winning 2-0. The girls worked well together to put three more shots in the goal before LE was able to score twice. The Vikings held their composure and reset their defense to secure the win. The next home game is this Wednesday as they take on Dutch Fork. The stats are below.

Boy's Tennis
It was a busy week for the boy's tennis team.  Monday they faced a very strong Chapin squad 
and were up on three courts and down on three courts when rain halted the match.  Tuesday 
they faced an equally tough Irmo team and were victorious 4-3.  

Wednesday the boys took on River Bluff and were a tiebreak away from having to play number one doubles, but eventually fell to River Bluff 4-2.  
On Thursday, the Vikings traveled to Lugoff-Elgin and were victorious 
over the demons 4-2 to advance to 2-0 in the region!  

Next week the Vikings face another 
region opponent, Sumter, on Thursday with high hopes of remaining undefeated in region play.  The boys are 2-3 on the season with losses to Lexington, River Bluff, and West 
Florence.
Softball
Friday 3/7:  Our softball team fought hard as they fell short to South Aiken 5 -3. Some player highlights are as follows: Mary Sullivan 2-2, (2) HR, (2) R, (3) RBIs; Kiarra Thomas 2-2, (2) 1B; Cydney Cooper 1-2, (1) 1B, (1) R. 

We also suffered a lost against Lexington 9-0. The highlight player for that game was Mary Freeman going 1-1, (1) 1B.

Tuesday:  3/12:  Varsity also won their first conference game by beating Irmo 6-2. 7th grader Lyrical Bennett pitched a complete game with # strikeouts. Some player highlights are as follows:  Talea Vicenty 3-3, (1) RBIs, (3) SB; Mary Sullivan 2-2, (1) 1B, (1) 2B, (1) RBI, (2) R.  

Our JV softball team rallied back after being down by 7 runs to Irmo to win their first conference game 15-9. Some player highlights are as follows: Emma Wargal pitched a complete game.

Wednesday: 3/13  Varsity beat Westwood 15-0, extending their winning streak to two games.  Some player highlights are as follows:  Gianna Valentie pitched a complete game shutout for her first win of the season. Kiarra Thomas 2-2, (2) R, (1) 1B, (1) 3B, (2) RBIs,  Cydney Cooper 2-3, (2) 1B, Mary Freeman 2-3, (1) 1B, (1) 2B.

Our JV softball team lost to Westwood in a nail biter 9- 8 as time ran out.  

Friday 3/15:  Varsity softball team beat Irmo 9-7 to improve their winning streak to 3 games. Some player highlights are as follows: Kiarra Thomas was the winning pitcher with Lyrical Bennett getting the save. Cydney Cooper seal the deal with her first high school home run. she went 3-4, (2) 1B, (1) HR, (2) R, (2) RBI; Mary Freeman 3-4, (3) 1B, (2) R; Talea Vicenty 3-4, (3) 1B, (1) R, (2) RBI.

Boy's Track and Field
On Wednesday the Vikings defeated 102-39 for a big region win .The Vikings had individual wins from Rodney Young (110H and 400H), Jacob Ho (1600,3200), Murray Jones (800), Isaiah Miller (Long Jump and Triple Jump), Michael Neal (high jump), and Andrew Polson (pole vault). Winning relays were the 4x100 (Isaiah Miller, Khalif Poag, Manny Moore, Malik Wesley), 4x400 (Isaiah Miller, Calvin Johnson, Murray Jones, and Rodney Young).

On Saturday the Vikings traveled to Wando for the Mellow Mushroom relays. Highlights from the meet were:

Girl's Track and Field
Last Wednesday the Lady Vikings Track & Field team defeated Irmo (region opponent) with a score of 110-30.  A few highlights include 1stplace in all 3 relays 4x100 (Kori Addision, Jonnica Fuller, Mikayla Turner, Amaryah White), 4x800 (Danielle Murrin, Alexa Lashley, Angel Huang, Ahja Amos) and 4x400 (Mikayla Turner, Chalayna Scott, Jasmine Dunlap, Amaryah White).  2nd & 3rd place in the Pole Vault (Angel & Sanjana Parise), 1st-2nd-3rd in Triple Jump (Nyla Keough, Summer Gayles, Anaya Keough), 1st and 2nd 100m dash (Amaryah & Jonnica), 2nd in 1600m (Dani), 1st400m (Mikayla T.), 1st-2nd-3rd 400 Hurdles (Jasmine Hughley, Jasmine D., Victoria Berry), 1st & 2nd 100 hurdles (Chalayna, Jasmine D.), 1st800m (Ahja), 1st & 3rd 200m (Amaryah & Mikayla T.), 1st & 3rd Long Jump (Ariana Wilkes, Nyla), 1st-2nd-3rd Discus (Ebony Dickerson, Gianni Jamison, Bethany Holloman), 1st-2nd-3rdShot Put (Madisson-Rhea Jones, Ebony, Gianni), 1st & 3rd 3200m (Alexa, Brantlely Aycock), 1st & 2nd High Jump (Anaya and Nyla)

On Saturday we had a fun and amazing meet at the Melow Mushroom relays hosted by Wando HS.  Leading our team with the 1st win of the day was the 100m Shuttle Hurdle Relay (Jasmine Dunlap, Ashiya Day, Jasmine Hughley, Chalayna Scott).  The 4x100 team pulled out the win as well (Kori Addision, Jonnica Fuller, Mikayla Turner, Amaryah White), a 1st place finish in the Sprint Medley (Kori, Ashiya, Amaryah, Mikayla), 3rd place in the 4x200 (Kori, Chalayna, Avianah Harmon, Jonnica), 3rd in High Jump (Anaya and Nyla Keough).  Topping off the day was the winning 4x400 relay which broke the meet record by 8 seconds (Mikayla, Jasmine D., Chalayna, Amaryah).  The 4x400 relay team was also named MVP’s of the meet for the Girls.
