Honor Roll Students Recognized for Academic Excellence
Mitch Uehling, owner of CiCi's Pizza, partnered with Spring Valley High School to recognize all of the Super Star students who made the "A" and "A/B" honor roll. Students received a coupon for a free buffet as long as another was purchased with it. Congratulations to all these hard-working students! Thank you, CiCi's for all you do for Spring Valley. Go Vikings!
Cupcakes for Success

John Monroe, 2016-17 Sparkleberry Country Fair Chairman, and Bill McCracken, 2017-18 Sparkleberry Country Fair Co-Chairman, awarded $25,000 to teachers in Richland School District 2 on October 25 for grants they submitted this year. Three SVHS teachers received grants from the Sparkleberry Country Fair to be used with their students. Cody Venters grant was for “World Language Murals,” Jennifer Bartell’s grant was for “#WeNeedDiverseBooks Project,” and Theresa Formyduval’s grant was for “Heirloom Fruits and Vegetables in Food Products.” All profits from the fair are used for grants and scholarships in RSD2. The Sparkleberry Country Fair will be Saturday, April 28, 2018.
Veterans Appreciation Assembly
We are excited that former Fort Jackson Commander Major General Abe Turner will be our guest speaker on Tuesday, Nov. 7th for the Veterans Appreciation Assembly. The Fort Jackson 282nd Band along with SVHS Symphonic Band will be performing patriotic songs. Our SVHS JROTC will be presenting the flag and the Armed Drill Team will be performing. We will extend an invitation to any veteran in the community to attend the Veterans Appreciation Breakfast in the Media Center from 8:00 am - 8:50 am and would love for them to attend and be recognized in the assembly in the main gym starting at 9:00 am. We will have reserved parking in the Atrium lot for all veterans and guests. Our students have submitted photos of family members who have served and are serving in the military that will be shared at the assembly and throughout the week on our monitors. We will commemorate Patriotism Week which includes the eleventh day of November in each year with patriotic signs, banners, the Veterans Appreciation Assembly and finally providing resources for teachers to:
(1) recognize the important contributions made by our military veterans to American society;
(2) honor the supreme sacrifices made by our veterans in defending the freedoms and protections afforded by the United States Constitution; and
(3) memorialize those men and women who lost their lives in military service.
Vikings Headed to Round 1 of the Playoffs
The Vikings finished 2nd in the region and will host the first round game against West Ashley at 7:30 here at Harry Parone Stadium. We need a huge crowd to support the Vikings as they start the playoffs.
Due to playoffs, there will be no student discount on tickets and faculty WILL NOT be free of charge. Only SCHSL passes will be excepted. Tickets will go on sale Friday at lunch for $7 a piece and students can buy as many as needed.
