Lady Vikings Tops in Basketball

Spring Valley won the Class 4A girls basketball state championship Friday night, defeating Goose Creek 53-46 at the Colonial Life Arena. Christian Hithe (Jr) recorded a double-double with 19 points and 14 rebounds and Shantay Taylor (Jr) added 12 points and eight rebounds. The win gave Coach Anne Long her seventh state title -- four at Union High School (1984, 1985, 1988, 1989) and three at Spring Valley (2009, 2011, 2015). Congratulations to Coach Long, Assistant Coaches Doretha Garland and Teresa Legette, and all of our Lady Viking basketball players:
