P.J. Dozier Named the 2014-15 Gatorade South Carolina Boys Basketball Player of the Year

In its 30th year of honoring the nation’s best high school athletes, The Gatorade Company, in collaboration with USA TODAY High School Sports, today announced P.J. Dozier of Spring Valley High School as its 2014-15 Gatorade South Carolina Boys Basketball Player of the Year. Dozier is the first Gatorade South Carolina Boys Basketball Player of the Year to be chosen from Spring Valley High School.

The award, which recognizes not only outstanding athletic excellence, but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the court, distinguishes Dozier as South Carolina’s best high school boys basketball player. Now a finalist for the prestigious Gatorade National Boys Basketball Player of the Year award to be announced in March.

The 6-foot-7, 195-pound senior point guard averaged 19 points and six assists per game this past season, leading the Vikings (19-8) to the Class 4A regional final. A 2015 McDonald’s All-American Game selection, he is ranked as the nation’s No. 25 recruit in the class of 2015 by ESPN.
Dozier has signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball on scholarship at the University of South Carolina this fall.
