Spring
Valley High School’s, Boys Track & Field Coach, John W Jones has been named the 2015 National Track and Field Coach of the Year by the National High
School Coaches Association (NHSCA).
Coach Jones
has been the Track& Field Coach at Spring Valley for 36 years. He was
inducted into the SC Track Coaches Hall of Fame in 2005 and into the SC
Athletic Coaches Association [all sports] Hall of Fame in 2007. Coach Jones was
also named the 2013 National Track &
Field Coach of the Year by the National Federation of State High School
Associations (NFHS).
Coach Jones
is the only track coach from SC to ever receive either of these National awards
and becomes only the second coach of a male sport from SC to ever receive the
award from the NHSCA ( the other being John McKissick in Football in 2009).
The award
will be presented to Coach Jones at half-time of the Spring Valley home
football game this Friday 8/21/2015.
