2016 South Carolina Junior Academy of Science

Sixty-three Discovery magnet students traveled to Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC for the 2016 South Carolina Junior Academy of Science (SCJAS) meeting. Students competed with both written research papers and oral presentations by category. There were over 275 oral presentations. Our students earned forty-seven awards. In addition,  Krishna Gorrepati, Christopher Kong, and Matthew Payne each won first place in both the written paper and oral presentation divisions for his category. Congratulations to all of our Discovery students for their hard work and dedication. Also, a big congratulations and thank you to these students' research teachers, Dr. Bedlek-Anslow, Mr. Dale Soblo, and Mrs. Michelle Spigner, who spent hours reading research papers, helping with experiments, and encouraging students to persevere!
