JV Football defeated LR 14-0
JV & Varsity Volleyball defeated RNE

Girls Golf
The lady Vikings golf team went to 4-0 on the season as they defeated Lugoff Elgin and Heathwood Hall in a tri-match at the Woodlands yesterday.  Low Medalist overall was Madison Branum for Heathwood Hall shooting an even round of 36.  Low Medalist for Spring Valley was Payton Starmack with a 39.  Others contributing for Spring Valley was Kamryn Beaman, Caroline Lumpkin and Millie Sox.

JV Football
Last night the JV football team defeated a scrappy Lower Richland team, 14-0 at Harry Parone. The team was led by Aiden Long and Sean Wiley as Captains.

The offensive scoring came on two running plays. On about the 20 yard line, Quinard Cox sprang free on a sweep that was lead by an outstanding crack block executed by Chance Cain. QB/Kicker Alex Herrera added the extra point. Later on Jaquez Terrell scored from 10 yards out to close out the first half, giving the Vikings the final touchdown of the evening. Again, Alex Herrera was equal to the task on PAT. He kicked well in all phases of special team play. Alex also began to run the option well in the fourth quarter of the game and showed significant improvement as the night concluded.

The defense played a great game and held the Diamond Hornets at bay and out of the end zone the entire night. Although the defensive coaching staff always stresses a team effort, there were several highlights worth mentioning.  Eric Porter had a sack in the first, Aiden Long had a sack in the second. Mario Ravenell had sack in the third, and later again in the fourth. Reggie Stewart had a sack in the third, and Caleb Roberts had an excellent pass break up in the end zone late in the fourth to deny the Diamond Hornets their final chance at scoring.

Volleyball
The Junior Varsity and Varsity Volleyball team both defeated Richland Northeast in Thursday night’s season opener and Blackout game at Spring Valley High School. JV swept RNE in two games 25-9, 25-13. Freshman, Alisha Pitt and Junior, Alyssa Boken, led the JV team with 4 Kills and freshman, Lelia Richardson, led the team with 5 Serve Aces.
The SVHS gymnasium was electric as we started off the Varsity match with our very own Captain of the Varsity team, Karolyn Martin, singing the National Anthem. The volleyball program would like to thank the SVHS Varsity cheerleaders for leading students, faculty, parents and fans with enthusiastic team spirit that undoubtedly impacted the tempo of the game.  A special shout out to one of our Varsity Cheerleaders who was the only one to win a slice of pizza by serving and hitting a pizza box target during our Serve Contest!
The Varsity girls won a hard fought match going to 5 sets and winning the 5th to clinch the Win; 26-24, 25-16, 23-25, 24-26 and 15-13. The Lady Vikings dominated in Kills with Junior, Dariona Dash, leading the team with 12 Kills and Juniors, Danielle Simpson and Maya Wright with 11 Kills each. Danielle Simpson also led the team with 6 Serve Aces.
The Lady Vikings will be at home again this Monday, August 29th, for a Tri-match versus Sumter and Aiken High Schools. JV and Varsity games will both play in the main gymnasium starting at 5:00pm.
