Viking Sports Wrap

Varsity Volleyball
The Lady Vikings Volleyball team went 1-2-3 at the Lady Gamecock Sumter Spike Off Tournament over the weekend. Pool play was not as strong as we had liked with 1 Loss to St. James and 3 Ties versus North Central, West Florence and Camden High School. The girls came out strong in tournament play, however, beating Orangeburg Wilkinson in 3 sets; 21-25, 25-22, 15-7. The Vikings lost a tough battle versus Camden High School in 3 sets in the 2nd round of the tournament; 25-17, 21-25, 11-15.

The Lady Vikings walked out of the tournament with their heads high considering our personal VICTORY against O.W., who we lost to in a scrimmage earlier in the season. Not only that, we were the ONLY team to beat Camden High School, TWICE (2 separate sets), throughout the entire tournament. Camden went on to win the tournament! Be sure to congratulate your Lady Vikings Volleyball team if you see them, they did an outstanding job this weekend! Go Vikings!

Special shout out to Junior Karolyn Martin for being selected All-Tournament player with 80 Assists and 14 Aces throughout the day!

Boys Cross Country
Saturday, the Boys Cross Country Team ran in the prestigious Coaches Classic Invitational. Our boys won the Championship Division for the second year in a row and 3rd time in 4 years. There were 58 schools in this division.

Our top runners were Amir McCall, Steven Andreen, Shash Ravi, Cam Brandenburg, and Charlie Timmerman.

Overall from all divisions, we would have finished 8th out of 84 teams.

Our freshmen also had a good day finishing 3rd out of 24 teams. They were led by George Wells, Mark Wild, and Jacob Ho.
