Robotics Teams Competed in the Viking Hammer Qualifier


The Viking Hammer Qualifier, held this past Saturday, November 12, was a huge success.  Thirty-five robotics teams competed in the VEX Starstruck tournament, including two teams from Spring Valley.  The event was run by Tammy Vaught and the robotics teams, with assistance from Michael Rodgers and the Technology Student Association.  Many parents, students, and others volunteered at the event, with the Key Club providing an outstanding supply of service, helping to make the event run smoothly and on time.

Green & Gold Robotics (120E) finished 16th in match play and was part of an alliance that competed in the quarterfinals.  Viking Logic (120V) finished 22nd in match play and was part of an alliance that competed in the semifinals.  The winning alliance was made up of LEONIDAS from Carrollton, Georgia, WARP Drive (B) from Charleston, and Mechanical Mayhem from Augusta, Georgia.  The Red Raiders from Greenville were the Robot Skills Champion.  WARP Drive (B) won the Excellence Award, the BobCATS from Chapin won the Design Award, M.T. Brains from Irmo won the Sportsmanship Award, and Chrom Supremacy from Orangeburg won the Judges Award.
