Girls Track & Field
It was a great weekend for the Lady Vikings Track & Field team with a 1st place team finish at the Silver Fox Invitational. Highlights from the Field events include a 2nd place finish by Morgan McLeod and 3rd place by Yvonne Thomas in the Pole Vault, Ikia Morgan 5th place and a tie for 6th (Raechal Sampson & Nyla Keough).  In the Triple Jump, we captured 3rd (Tori Ward), 6th (Danielle Miller) and 7th (Kanyah Stevenson). In the JV Long Jump Anaya Keough took 1st place and her twin sister Nyla Keough was 3rd.  Breha Fulford finished 6th in the Discus and 6th in the Shot Put. We also had Rebekah Bishop finishing 2nd and Janae Freeman 4th in the JV Shot Put.

On the track all 3 athletes placed in the 100m Hurdles with 1st place (Courtney Pratt), 3rd place (Chaylana Scott) and 5th (Morgan Roberts).  In the 100m dash, all 3 placed as well with 3rd place (Amaryah White), 6th (Kori Addison) and 7th (Tori Ward).  The JV 100m dash race was exciting as all 3 athletes also placed with Yvonne Thomas placing 2nd, Danielle Miller 4th, and Jonnica Fuller 6th.  Senior Gabrielle McGee finished strong in the 800m with a 3rd place finish and teammate Paige Waters finished 7th.  Freshman Mikayla Turner took a 1st place finish in the 400m and Ahja Amos finished in 4th place.  

In the 200m dash Freshman Amaryah White finished 1st and Mikayla Turner placed 4th.  All 3 athletes placed in the 400m Hurdles with Chaylana Scott winning 1st place, Jasmine Hughley right behind her for 2nd and Raechal Sampson 4th.  Danielle Murrin had a 7thplace finish in the 3200m. Finishing out with the relays the 4x800 took 3rd (Jasmine Hughley, Kaitlyn Froelich, Paige Waters, Gabrielle McGee), a 1st place finish in the 4x100 (Mikayla Turner, Danielle Miller, Tori Ward , Amaryah White), and the 4x400 (Amaryah White, Ahja Amos, Gabrielle McGee, Milayla Turner) took 2nd place to finish the meet.

Spring Valley 17, Irmo 7 - The Lady Vikings were able to get another region win Friday evening against Irmo.  We got off to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first.  Irmo quickly answered with a 3 run HR in the bottom half of the inning.  We scored 4 in the top half of the second, and maintained the lead from that point on.  We were led offensively by Alexis Edgerton (4-for-5: 2 singles, 1 double, 1 HR; 4 runs scored; 4 RBI’s), Hannah Bostic (3-for-5: 2 singles, 1 double; 2 runs scored; 3 RBI’s), Jade Mickle (3-for-5: 3 singles; 3 runs scored; 1 RBI) , and Jourdan Bostic (3-for-4: 1 single, 2 doubles; 1 run scored; 5 RBI’s). Other contributors were Hunter Hayes (1 run scored), Mary Beth Sullivan (3 runs scored; 1 RBI), and Tale’A Vicenty (2 runs scored). Molly Coleman pitched the complete game, getting the victory in the circle, and Mary Freeman played solidly behind the plate. Overall record moves to 3-5, with our region record at 2-1. Next up for the girls is a region match-up against River Bluff (at River Bluff) on Tuesday.  Wish the girls good luck!
