JOSEPHINE WHALEY SCHOLARSHIP - This scholarship is intended to assist 2 needy, graduating high school seniors in pursuit of their quest for higher education. Criteria: Must be a Richland County resident; possess at least a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale; furnish proof of acceptance at college, university, vocational-technical or trade school; be presently the product of a single-parent or guardian household; furnish a current/up-to-date high school transcript; furnish 3 letters of recommendation from non-family members; write an essay, outlining future goals and aspirations and why you feel you are in need of assistance.

DISCOVER MANUFACTURING DESIGN CHALLENGE SCHOLARSHIP - (Deadline is Friday -  1/11/13)The purpose of this challenge is to encourage students to learn more about how manufacturing enhances our daily lives and discover wonderful career opportunities.

Students who participate in the Design Challenge must research manufacturing, write a short essay and design an advertisement (a billboard or magazine ad) for a manufacturing in their community. Scholarships will be awarded for the top essay and advertising design in three categories: Elementary School (design only), Middle School and High School. In each category $300 will be awarded to the first place essay/design. Additionally, the school department that produces the first-place winner in each category is awarded $200. Note: All students in all departments are encouraged to participate. Awards will be made in the spring of 2013 at each of the winners’ schools.
