Varsity Football
The Spring Valley Vikings Varsity Football team defeated Irmo HS 58-28 last Friday night. The Vikings move to 8-0 and are now ranked 3rd in the state. The Vikings were led on offense by QB Chris Adams who rushed 11 times for 112 yards and was 6-8 passing for 116 yards and 2 TD's. John Miller rushed 17 times for 225 yards and 5 TD's. Josh Harlan had 2 rushing TD's. The other touchdown was on a 34 yard touchdown reception by Jordan Foster. The Vikings had 565 yards of total offense. John Miller tied a school record for TD's in a game with 5. He also set the single season TD record with 25 so far this season. Cooper Gresham was 8 for 8 on extra points setting a new school record for most in a game and in a season. 

On defense the Vikings were led by Josh Harlan 15 tackles and 1 fumble recovery. Jalon Williams had 4 tackles, 1 sack, 1 safety and 1 tackle for loss. Jordan Williams had 5 tackles and 1 tackle for loss. Christian Miller had 6 tackles, 1 sack, 1 tackle for loss. Christian Miller set the season record for sacks and sacks in a career. 

The Vikings will play Ridge View this Friday, October 25 in a very important region game. It is senior night. This is the last home game of the regular season. We need a huge crowd for this game. This is one of the best starts in Spring Valley Football history. Please come support your football team and seniors!!

Cheer
Spring Valley Varsity Cheerleading participated in the Forest Acres Cheer Cup at AC Flora on Saturday, October 19th.   The team took home the 1st place trophy beating Sumter High School.  The team also was awarded the Best Choreography award for their dance.   The JV and Varsity Cheerleaders will be participating in the Lake Murray Invitational on Saturday, October 26, 2013.  

JV Football 
Thursday, October 17th the JV football team defeated Irmo at Harry Parone Stadium, 34-7. The team captains were T'Juan Fulton on offense and Jowell Ferebee on defense. 

On offense, T'Juan Fulton scored from 8 yards out and again from 2 yards in the first quarter. Later on in the 3rd, Fulton scored again from 38 yards out. Jaron Ricks scored on two receptions from 25 yards out and from 10 yards out both on Kevin Owens passes. Kristion Glover had several great runs to set up a lot of those touchdowns, as did Davis and Bunch at fullback. R.J. Bacon was 4/5 on PAT's. 

On defense, Eric Mason had a great night with several open field tackles and had a great pass break up on a critical third and long in the second quarter. Later in the third quarter, Brandon Black had a great pass break-up as well.


Cheer  
The Viking Invitational was hosted by the Spring Valley Athletic Department on October 16, 2013 with 24 teams participating.  Both JV and Varsity cheer leading teams participated and placed 2nd and 3rd, respectively.   Their next competition will be Saturday October 29 at AC Flora High School.
