| All-State |
After the final auditions that were held on Saturday, January 25th, we have 5 students representing Spring Valley in the All-State Band, and 15 students representing Spring Valley in the SCBDA Region 3 Band. Each student was required to perform a state assigned solo for their instrument, perform their 12 diatonic scales by memory within 2 minutes, perform their chromatic scale for the full range of the instrument, sight read two 16 measure compositions, and identify/define music vocabulary terms. Over 2100 students from 11 counties, which makes up our Region 3, auditioned for a seat in one of the three 114 piece Region Bands. Junior Band-7-8th grade, Clinic Band- 9-10th grade, and Senior Band-11-12th grade. The top chairs from each of the five regions in the state, were called back this past Saturday to audition again for their respective level All-State Band. Students who earn these seats, typically gain scholarship opportunities from all state colleges, and several major music conservatories. Hats off to our talented students!
