American Mathematics Competition

The AMC (American Mathematics Competition) is taking place on February 2 and 17 and will be offered at Spring Valley High School. The registration fee is $2, due to Mrs. Stiffler in room D127.

AMC 10 is offered to 9th and 10th graders, and AMC 12, the more difficult of the two, is offered to all grade levels. Students may take a test on both dates of the AMC. The tests are both 75 minutes long. The test on February 2 will be held in the multipurpose room, while the test on February 17 will be held in the auxiliary gym.

The AMC is the largest national math competition, held annually. It serves as the qualifying test for the AIME (American Invitational Mathematics Exam). If students perform well at this round, they can qualify for USA(J)MO, the national math olympiad. Many colleges also request AMC scores if students have taken the exam.
