Girls Golf

The Lady Vikings golf team had their season opener on Monday against the White Knoll Timberwolves at Indian River golf course. It was a closely contested match but the lady Vikings team score of 229 edged out the Timberwolves score of 231.

Low medalist for Spring Valley was Millie Sox. Other Lady Vikings contributing to the team score were: Madeline Kay, Millie Spivey, and Maddie Webster.

The Lady Vikings girl's golf team traveled to Camden country club yesterday to take on the Lugoff Elgin Demons and Dutch Fork Silverfoxes in a tri-match.  The Lady Vikings fell in a very tight match against Lugoff Elgin losing by 2 strokes to the demons 213-215.  But, managed to come away victorious against the Silverfoxes 215-224. Low medalist for Spring Valley was senior Madeline Kay. Other contributors for the Lady Vikings were: Millie Spivey, Millie Sox, and Maddie Webster. 

Volleyball
8/21

Great kick off to the 2018 Spring Valley Volleyball season at RNE on Monday, August 20th! Both Varsity and JV walked away with a win; Varsity ladies beating RNE 3-1; 25-15, 23-25, 25-21, 25-23. Senior Mia Wooden and Junior Angel White led the team with 7 digs each, Senior Chandler Murria led the team with 12 Kills and 4 blocks, Junior Alisha Pitt with 10 Kills and Sophomore Elise Taylor served at 100% throughout the match; 3 serves as Aces. Senior Aneisa Williams led the team with 6 Aces.

Next, JV/Varsity home games will be Tuesday, August 28 versus Cardinal Newman at 5/6:30 and Thursday, August 30 versus RNE at 5/6:30. Thursday, August 30th, is our Student Night Kick off Game with our very own Viking Cheerleaders on the sidelines! Students get in free with their IDs! See you all at the game!

Girls Tennis
8/23

The Lady Viking tennis team defeated Chapin yesterday 4-2. Winning for Spring Valley were Crawford Latham (6-0 6-2), Pallavi Rao (6-2 7-6), Allie Wierzbowski (4-6 6-1 10-1), and the number 2 doubles team Taylor Williams /Summer Gayles (6-3 6-3). The girls will take on Fort Mill on Monday at 5:00 here at the Valley. Come out and support the Lady Vikings!

JV Football The JV football team lost a close game to DF 14-6. The Vikings were led on offense by Josh Skelton at QB and the running on Calvin Johnson who scored the Vikings touchdown. The Defense was led by Cameron Mims, Trey Peterson, and Damanjhot Jhaj. The Vikings defense had 2 big defensive goal line stands and forced a turnover one of those drives

Varsity Football
The Varsity football team traveled to DF on Friday. The offense was led by the running of Alex Herrera, TJ Wise, Isaiah Miller and Marquel Brown.
The defense was led by Jalen Geiger who had an interception. Skylar McCants led the defense with 7 tackles, Max Shropshire with 6 tackles and Isaiah Miller with 5 tackles.
Alex Herrera had 5 punts for a 35.8 average.
The Vikings will be at home this Friday for the home opener at 7:30 at Harry Parone Stadium.

Boys Cross Country
8/25

This past Saturday the Vikings Boys Cross Country team competed in the Western North Carolina Cross Country Carnival. The varsity team finished 11th in the meet. Leading the way for the Vikings was Murray Jones finishing 14th with a time of 16:49. Also competing in the varsity race was Carlos Angles (55th), Jacob Ho (66th), Fernando Castro (78th), Andrew Polson (101st), George Wells (104th), Ethan Taylor (132nd), and Tyler Shuler (162nd). Leading the way for the Vikings in the JV race was Henry Pettis and Patrick Kittrell. 

Girls Cross Country
8/25

Congratulations to each of the girls who ran this morning! We had a beautiful 65° and sunny race and the girls performed well. Ahja Amos was the first finisher for the girls and 50th overall with a time of 21:44. Dani Murrin and Alexa Lashley were close behind finishing 51st and 64th respectively. Rounding out the girls Varsity team and earning a 15th place team finish were Micah Hiddlestun (24:30), Madison Mceachern (24:56), Citlaly Rojo (25:10), Brantley Aycock (25:44) and Perla Bello (27:32).

Representing the JV team this weekend was Haley Wells (26:12), Becca Cook (26:26), Jane McCallum (26:39), Molly Westfall (26:40), Maddy Dissinger (27:38), Esther Kim (29:12) and Morgan Reupke (29:59)
