The Lady Vikings were back on their home course after the holiday weekend to take on the Ridge View Blazers.  Several Lady Vikings shot season low scores in helping to put up the low team score for the season of 206 against Ridge View's score of 248.  Low medalist for Spring Valley was Madeline Kay besting her season low score for the second match in a row.  Other Lady Vikings contributing to team score were Millie Spivey, Maddie Webster and Mary Freeman.  Lady Vikings next match will be on September 6th taking on the Sumter Gamecocks.

The Lady Vikings golf team traveled to Sumter to take on the Gamecocks in a region matchup.  It was a special day for the Lady Vikings as they broke several personal and team records.  Several players bested there career lows to help the team post the team score low of the season 200 against Sumter's 256.
Senior Madeline Kay, the low medalist of the match and Freshman Maddie Webster both beat their previous low match rounds, which included a chip-in birdie for Maddie. Other Lady Viking's contributing to team score were Millie Spivey and Millie Sox.  The Lady Vikings next match will be September 11 taking on the AC Flora Falcons at Northwoods


Girls Tennis - 9/6

The Lady Vikings improved to 4-0 on the season last night defeating Lexington 4-3.  Winning for Spring Valley were Crawford Latham (6-0 6-0), Kate McMillin (6-3 6-4), #2 doubles team Summer Gayles/Taylor Williams (6-4 4-6 10-6), and #1 doubles team Latham/McMillin (6-2 6-3).

On Wedensday the Ladys defeated Chapin 4-2.  Winning for Spring Valley were Crawford Latham (6-1 6-1), Pallavi Rao (7-5 6-1), Allie Wierzbowski (6-2 7-6) and #2 doubles team Taylor Williams/Summer Gayles (4-6, 6-4, 10-4)

The girls begin region play next week at Irmo on Tuesday and on Thursday at home against Lugoff-Elgin.  Come out and support the Lady Vikings!

Volleyball
Tuesday, Sept 4th Spring Valley Volleyball vs Fort Mill HS
The Lady Vikings Varsity fell to Fort Mill HS on Tuesday, September 4th 0-3 (24-26, 18-25, 20-25) at Fort Mill. Although Fort Mill came out on top, the Lady Vikings gave them quite the fight throughout the match. Junior, Alisha Pitt led the team with 12 Kills and serving at 93% for the night. Close behind was junior, Leila Richardson with 8 Kills, 6 Digs, 3 Aces as well as serving at 100% for the night. Senior, Aneisa Williams racked up the stats with 1 Kill, 9 Digs, 25 Assists and serving at 100% for the match. Senior Libero, Mikaila Widener led the team on defense with 18 Digs and serving at 90% with 3 Aces. This was a "good loss" for our girls and used it as the next step to our victory over Westwood HS on Thursday, September 6th.

The Junior Varsity team fell to Fort Mill 0-2 (6-25, 13-25). Freshman, Cydney Cooper had 2 Aces and Sophomore, Jessica Wigley had 2 Kills.

Thursday, Sept 6th Spring Valley Volleyball vs Westwood HS
The Spring Valley Varsity girls came out with a BIG VICTORY after long fought battle with Westwood HS going to 3-2 for the night (26-24, 20-25, 12-25, 25-21, 15-12)! Every player contributed greatly to the Win but here are a few notable stats: Junior, Alisha Pitt with 15 Kills, senior, Chandler Murria and sophomore, Elise Taylor each with 9 Kills. Shout out to junior, Faith Webster for her 4 Aces, 2 Kills and 7 Assists. Junior, Aneisa Williams led the team with 28 Assists, 3 Kills and 1 Ace. Leading the team in defense, Senior Mikaila Widener and Mia Wooden racked up 18 Digs a piece and served over 90% for the match.

We are so proud of the hardwork and HEART these girls showed on Thursday! What a great way to enter in to our region games starting Tuesday, September 11th, AWAY at Irmo and Thursday versus Lugoff-Elgin at HOME! Come on out and make some noise with us!! Go Vikings!

The Junior Varsity team fell to Westwood 1-2 (26-24, 18-25, 13-15). The girls started off strong and lost steam for the next two sets unfortunately. Freshman, Cydney Cooper led the team with 3 Aces, sophomore, Bency Young led with 7 digs and Freshman, Jordan Mitchell with 3 Kills. We are looking forward to seeing these girls practice hard, move forward and be victorious in our games next week! Go Vikings!

Girls Cross Country
Phew, what a day!! Coaches Classic this year featured 104 teams, over 3000 athletes and more sweat and tears than have ever been left on the course in a few short hours. A MAJOR thank you to each of the parents that arrived early and/or stayed to help make sure the cars were parked and athletes could safely race.

We had 26 girls compete in Coaches Classic today.The weather was miserable and our girls managed to rise above that and performed well.

Our JV girls finished 23rd out of 40 teams and put up 5 lifetime bests! Congratulations to JV top performer Elizabeth Ream on her 25:45. As well as to the 5 girls who set lifetime bests today;  Isabelle Vola (32:02), Molly Westfall (26:12), Perla Bello Hernandez (25:51),  Rebekkah Huddlestun (31:09) and Viki Berry (27:03).

Our Varsity girls finished 29 out of 50. Alexa Lashley was our top finisher followed by fellow junior Citlaly Rojo (24:25) and freshman Chinira Godfrey (24:25). The fourth finisher was 8th grader Anna Todd (24:41). Rounding out the varsity today were 8th grader Brantley Aycock (25:05), freshman Micah Huddlestun (25:55) and 8th grader Madison Mcearchern (26:50)

Boys Cross Country - 9/8

On Saturday the boys cross country team competed in the Coaches Classic Invitational at Sandhills. Out of 69 varsity teams the Vikings finished 16th. Leading the way for the Vikings was Murray Jones finishing 23rd out of 486 runners in a time of 17:14. Also competing was George Wells (111), Jacob Ho (114), Carlos Angles (116), Fernando Castro (225), Mark Wild (264), and Andrew Polson (276). The JV race was canceled due to the heat.

Football - 9/7

JV football
The JV football team defeated Richland NE 39-0 this past Thursday to run their record to 2-1 on the season. The Vikings were led on offense by Joshua Skelton who had 2 TD's, Christian Myers, Nehemiah Bell and Blayton Miller all had a TD. Hy-Kein Nahn had a 70 yard punt return for a TD and had a 64 yard punt return for a TD called back. PJ Ulengchong had 4 Extra points.
Defensively the Vikings were led by Danny Evans, Marion Washington, AJ Thompson, Iverson Moore and TY Wise who all had outstanding games. The defense played outstanding shutting out the Cavaliers.
The Vikings travel to Chapin on Thursday at 6:00 for this weeks game.

Varsity football
The varsity football team defeated the Richland Northeast Cavaliers Friday night by the score of 43-0. The varsity record is now 2-1.
