The National Park Service and Congaree National Park are currently recruiting for its Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) program.
There are five (5) positions available, paying $7.25 per hour, and the program is set to run from June 8th to August 14th.
Requirements for the program are as follows:
- Crew members must be between the ages of (15 and 18) as of the start of the program
- Crew will be working 8 hours per day Monday - Friday (40 hours weeks)
- Crew members must have their own transportation to and from Congaree National Park each work day.
- Applicants must complete the YCC Application Form and submit it to Congaree NP before April 4th to be eligible. The application is available on our park website and can be filled out either by hand or digitally at https://www.nps.gov/cong/ learn/kidsyouth/ youthconservationcorps.htm.
This summer’s YCC Crew will be working alongside a uniformed park employee clearing and marking portions of Congaree’s boundary. This is outdoor work and while inside work will be available when outside conditions are bad applicants should be prepared to spend most days in the field.
While this is a summer work program the crew will also be learning about what makes Congaree National Park a special place, be exposed to some of the behind-the-scenes workings of the park, take a trip to another National Park Service site and get to experience parts of the park many people never see.
If any potential applicants, have any questions please feel free to contact Charles Aznive directly at charles_aznive@nps.gov or by phone at (803) 647-3969.
